"Meet My Friend" is a great opportunity for interns to learn about Turkish Culture and lifestyle in Turkey and to get closer to other different cultures. At the same time, this project is beneficial for Turkish Students to find out more about foreign cultures. The long term goal of the project is to foster cultural understanding and motivate students to learn foreign languages. Also, by the help of “environmental awareness presentations” our aim is to raise the awareness of children for local and global problems and become social responsible. Another purpose is improving perspective and vision of High School Students. The interns will work with 15-17 aged children and studying in Turkish High Schools. Meet My Friend Project will run in high schools and all trainees will present their countries during the English Lessons to the students. Country Insight Turkey might be the world’s most contested country. It's landscape is dotted with battlegrounds, ruined castles and the palaces of great empires. This is the land where Alexander the Great slashed the Gordion Knot, where Achilles battled the Trojans in Homer’s Iliad, and where the Ottoman Empire fought battles that would shape the world. Today, straddling the continents of Europe and Asia, Turkey tries to be a bridge between West and East.
